Aug. 2008, Shibaura ST318 in Olympic stadium
Olympic grass seeded and maintained with redexim machines and Shibaura tractor.
The National Chinese "Bird's Nest" stadium was the central venue for the Olympics in Beijing, featuring the Athletic Competitions and the Men’s Football final match.

The grass for stadium is a portable field and is grown in a modular system of boxes of 1.2m by 1.2m, which will be brought into the stadium after the Opening Ceremony finishes on August 8.

Cultivation of the turf is under supervision of Michigan State Universities-Professor John N. Rogers-at Lai Gung Ying Base outside Beijing. The seeding of the grass took place on September 11, 2007 using a Redexim-Charterhouse Speed Seed and a Shibaura ST318.

September 11, 2007 – The Olympic grass being planted with the Speed Seed behind the Shibaura tractor.
From 7 until 12 August the modular system is placed in the "Bird’s Nest" stadium.
August 7, 2008 Lai Gung Ying Base -
The Olympic turf looks very good, with healthy strongly developed grass roots.
August 8, 2008 -
All turf modules are numbered and are awaiting to be transported to the “Bird’s Nest” stadium.
August 10, 2008 -
The puzzle of modules is being put together in the stadium.
After placing the turf modules in the stadium, the soil is aerated on August 18 with a Shibaura ST318 and the Redexim Verti-Drain 7212.
